“So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today – to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul – then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil. I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.”<\/em> (Deuteronomy 11:13-15)<\/p>\n

Today we are observing the last Sabbath rest during Lent.\u00a0 I have chosen these verses for us to think about because they remind us that God is in charge and that He covers all the bases.\u00a0 That is important to remember if we are really going to enjoy the Sabbath.\u00a0 Many have a hard time truly “resting”.\u00a0 We worry about the things that are still undone.\u00a0 We worry about the things that we will need to do later and we wonder if all the bases are covered.\u00a0 We can’t totally relax until we know for sure that things are going to get done.<\/p>\n

That’s why I like these verses.\u00a0 God says through Moses, “If you love me I will take care of you and…cover all the bases.\u00a0 If we are loving God with all our hearts He promises to bless us and take care of us.\u00a0 But…He also promises to bless the land, the crops, the harvest and even grass for your cows to eat!\u00a0 What?\u00a0 Oh, and by the way, you will be fed and satisfied as well.<\/p>\n

So today, I want to remind you, on behalf of the God who loves you, sit back and enjoy a Sabbath rest.\u00a0 It’s okay.\u00a0 He’s got all the bases covered.\u00a0 There will be plenty of ways that He will include you in His work, but on this Sabbath let Him take care of it.\u00a0 Trust Him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
