In last Sunday’s morning message I mentioned that God calls each of us to be a part of His Kingdom work.\u00a0 I also said that the call can be defined and confirmed by taking time to discover what we are “wired” to do.\u00a0 In other words, why are you here?\u00a0 What is your purpose?<\/p>\n
I referenced that each of us can get some direction in answering this question by using the SHAPE acrostic.\u00a0 This simple acrostic was the idea of Pastor Erik Rees in his book, “S.H.A.P.E. Finding and Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose in Life<\/em>“.\u00a0 It is a great tool that can give us even more insight into our purpose by examining 5 areas of our life.<\/p>\n 1.) Spiritual Gifts – This is what is described in the Bible as something God gives you when you become a Christian that contributes to the body of Christ.<\/p>\n 2.) Heart – This is this your passion.\u00a0 What is it that drives you?\u00a0 What do you care about?<\/p>\n 3.)\u00a0Abilities – What are you\u00a0naturally good at?\u00a0 Each of us is created by God with natural\u00a0strengths and\u00a0weaknesses.\u00a0 What are your strengths?<\/p>\n 4.) Personality – Each of us relates to people differently and responds differently to situations.\u00a0 God’s call on your life will, most likely, be consistent with the personality that He gave you.<\/p>\n 5.) Experiences – Each of us has gone through good and bad experiences.\u00a0 These have\u00a0been a big part of our personal growth.\u00a0 These experiences have\u00a0shaped our character and, sometimes, how we look at life.\u00a0\u00a0Many times God uses these experiences to equip us to\u00a0be effective “ministers” to others.\u00a0 We are someone who has “been there…done that…and made it through” to someone else.<\/p>\n Looking at these 5 areas of our lives is just a step in the journey of finding our calling in God’s Kingdom work.\u00a0 The most important step is getting involved in serving.\u00a0 Looking at some of the opportunities that are available and joining in.\u00a0 There will be more to come as we walk together in this time of growth and God’s blessing here at Parkwood!<\/p>\n Blessings,<\/p>\n Pastor Mike<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" In last Sunday’s morning message I mentioned that God calls each of us to be a part of His Kingdom work.\u00a0 I also said that the call can be defined and confirmed by taking time to discover what we are … Continue reading
