Are you ready?

As we slowly thaw out from a long winter we are challenged with the discipline of Spring cleaning and getting ready for the change of season. Spiritually we are faced with the same challenge. The Lenten season has given us the opportunity to plow up the harden soil of our hearts and prepared us for the fresh celebration of the Easter event.  The question is…where do we go from here?  What does God have in store for you next?…and are you ready for it?

It is my desire to be a vessel “useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work” (2 Timothy 2:21).  Through Easter we have prepared our hearts, but now what can we do to prepare our lives?  God is at work all around us and we know that He has ordained that each of us join Him in His Kingdom work.  What is it that God is calling you to do or to be a part of?  How can we distinguish between what we want to do and what God wants us to do?  Are we willing to jump in when God presents an opportunity?  Or, even more important, are you ready so that you can jump in?  For those of you reading along, I invite you to look at some of the Scriptures that give us guidance to get ready and over the next few days we will seek to know what it means to be “ready” to go.

Jesus said, “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning…so that when He [the Master] comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for Him…it will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready…You also must be ready.” (Luke 12:35,36,38)

Paul said, “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season” (2 Timothy 4:2)

Are you ready?

In your quiet time today let the Lord know that you desire to be ready to do whatever He needs you to do today.  You want to be ready to go where He wants you to go and say what He wants you to say.  Then ask Him what you need to do in your life that can prepare you for what lies ahead.  God has great plans for you…get ready!
